With the pinhole technique, no incisions are made and no sutures are needed. Instead, a small dental instrument is used to reposition the gums over the tooth roots through a tiny pinhole. Gentle, minimally invasive gum grafting treatment
Although the pinhole technique offers a good solution for many, there are still situations for which traditional gum grafting is needed. Special micro surgical instruments and techniques can also be used to provide gentle, minimally invasive gum grafting treatment that restores root coverage and thickens gums when necessary.
High-magnification eyeglasses known as surgical loupes allow the doctors to clearly see very tiny areas of the mouth as they work. This enables them to use micro instruments which are more precise and gentler on the tissues than traditional, standard-sized instruments. It also enables your doctor to use micro sutures, which are very small, specialized sutures that dissolve on their own and do not require a second appointment for removal.
