Dental Implants are an exciting option that has changed the lives of many people.  But Dental Implants are not for everyone.  If you answer "yes" to any of the following questions, then Dental Implants may be a good option for you.  When you decide that Dental Implants are for you, Dr. Rubino in Bradenton and Sun City Center will guide you through all the Dental Implant procedures.

How Your Mouth Feels How You Feel About Your Teeth Your Commitment to Dental Care
Do you wear a full or partial denture that causes you pain when you eat? Are you embarrassed about dentures or missing teeth when you smile or laugh? Will you spend extra time on oral hygiene for your implant?
Do you wear a full or partial denture that fits badly and sometimes slips? Do problems with a full or partial denture prevent you from eating in public? Will you follow up with regularly scheduled dental checkups?
Are any of your remaining teeth becoming loose or crooked? Does wearing dentures keep you from being socially or physically active? Can you wait several months to use your implant fully and effectively?

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental Implants consist of a screw that is placed into the jaw bone that acts as an anchor for a false tooth or a set of false teeth. If you are in reasonable health and have enough bone mass in the area of your mouth to receive the anchorage, then you are a candidate for Dental Implants.  If there is a loss of bone in the area to receive the Dental Implant, then you may be a candidate for "Mini-Implants".  If you are considering Dental Implants or would like more information, contact Dr. Rubino in his Bradenton office to schedule an evaluation to determine if Dental Implants are right for you.

What Is The Dental Implant Procedure?

The first step is to install the "anchor" into the jaw bone and allow time for the bone to grow around the anchor to hold it firmly in place.   The surgical procedure is relatively short and painless.  Once the Dental Implant has healed firmly in the jaw bone, then the artificial teeth are fitted securely to the implant.

Does The Dental Implant Procedure Hurt?

The surgical procedure is performed under local anesthesia and you will generally not feel any pain.   After the anesthesia has worn off, any discomfort is easily controlled with Ibuprofen (Advil or Nupren).
